The College of Science, Engineering, and Technology at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering position or a professional-track Instructor of the Practice of Electrical and Computer Engineering, to begin Fall Semester (or July) 2026. The preferred candidate will possess an M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Responsibilities
- Teach 24 credits (if tenure-track) or 30 credits (if professional-track) of lecture and laboratory courses in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or other engineering courses each academic year.
- Involve undergraduate students in research and/or experiential learning projects.
- Contribute to the developing programs and emphases in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering.
- Perform defined campus-wide duties including holding office hours, attending department, college, and division faculty meetings, and adhering to University policy and procedures.
- Perform institutional service and scholarship as defined by University policy and procedure (if tenure-track).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- An M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred. Candidates with related degrees will also be considered. Applicants who are ABD are invited to apply, if degree will be completed prior to August 2026.
- Candidates with a background in power systems are highly encouraged to apply.
- Prior teaching experience in core electrical/computer engineering courses preferred; candidates with adequate teaching assistant experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with relevant industry experience preferred.
- A strong commitment to and evidence of potential for excellence in teaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collegiality and teamwork.
- An interest in active learning, experiential learning, and student engagement is desirable.
Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) tenure-track or professional-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2026, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2026. Annual salary of $87,000 - $92,000 for Assistant Professor and $76,000 - $79,000 for Instructor of the Practice, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
