Job Summary / Basic Function
The Director of Admissions at PennWest California serves as the campus lead for Undergraduate Admissions at that location. The position, reporting to the Executive Director for Undergraduate Admissions, provides strategic and daily operational oversight for the Admissions team located there. The Director is actively engaged in the development and implementation of effective strategic undergraduate recruitment tactics, with an emphasis on student engagement and outreach, and ensuring a personalized, seamless approach to recruitment, admission, and enrollment of new students. The Director works in close coordination with division leadership, including the Executive Director and the other two PennWest Admissions Campus Leads/Directors, to execute effective recruitment processes and admissions policies.
Essential Duties:
- Provides strategic leadership, direction and supervision for the PennWest California campus Undergraduate Admissions staff.
- Provides input and assists with the implementation of the university’s undergraduate recruitment plans, including working directly with relevant SEM departments, academic departments and student success/retention units.
- Develops and supervises an effective student engagement program for prospects, applicants, and admitted students interested in PennWest and the California campus. Utilizes modern recruitment techniques, including, but not limited to, on-campus event programming, multi-channeled outreach, collaboration with high school counselors and transfer counselors, and other tactics, to ensure successful recruitment and enrollment outcomes.
- Strategically plans and schedules recruitment travel, on- and off-campus visits, and other events in collaboration with the Clarion and Edinboro campuses. Researches, develops, and implements strategies to expand recruitment outreach to new populations, while maintaining or increasing primary market share.
- Provides leadership to the transfer recruitment, diverse student recruitment, and ZeeMee platform teams to ensure that all recruitment strategies and initiatives are implemented effectively to meet or exceed enrollment goals.
- Works closely with Enrollment Marketing and Systems in the management and analysis of recruitment and admissions data, and the preparation of reports, research, and evaluations necessary to fulfill the duties of the Admissions Office and creates and maintains pertinent reports to track recruitment effectiveness and attainment of enrollment goals
- Collaborates with Admissions and SEM leaders on strategic marketing campaigns, student search efforts/name buys, multi-channeled communication plans, and social media communication. Creates, edits, and manages web content in collaboration with the Enrollment Marketing and Systems team for the purpose of recruitment.
- Collaborates with division leadership and the Office of Financial Aid to create, implement, and maintain robust scholarship programs for the purpose of recruitment, yield and retention.
- Advises key university leaders on new student recruitment trends, data, and barriers that need to be addressed. Works to disseminate necessary information regarding new student enrollment efforts to appropriate offices (housing, records, financial aid, student success, etc.).
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Minimum of Education / TrainingRequired Education Summary
- Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited university
- 4-6 years of direct admissions/enrollment management related experience
- Demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- 6-8 years of direct admissions/enrollment management related experience
- Has a solid grasp of data analytics and performance metrics
- Experience with Slate CRM
- Experience working with diverse student populations including transfer and international students
