Interim Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator
Job Description Summary
WXPN is seeking a part-time, temporary Interim Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator to support essential volunteer coordination, student staffing, and event presence during a staff transition. This role reports to the Marketing Manager and helps ensure continuity for WXPN's outreach and engagement efforts at station events and in the community.
Job Description
The Interim Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining WXPN's volunteer and student staffing needs across public-facing initiatives, including the XPoNential Music Festival, the Musicians On Call 5K, and ongoing outreach efforts. This role works across departments to provide consistent event support and uphold WXPN's visibility in the community.
Core responsibilities include:
- Volunteer & Event Coordination (70%)
- Recruit and schedule volunteers for WXPN events, including Free At Noon, XPN Welcomes events, the XPoNential Music Festival, the Musicians On Call 5K, and other community outreach activities
- Communicate with staff, venues, and partners to confirm volunteer needs
- Maintain volunteer tracking via Salesforce and Monday.com (e.g., shifts, contact info, hours)
- Conduct volunteer outreach via email using Salesforce and Outlook
- Onboard and train new volunteers as needed
- Maintain marketing materials and supplies for use at events
- Student Engagement (20%)
- Support WXPN's student internship and work-study programs through scheduling, onboarding, and coordination with internal stakeholders and university partners
- Track student participation and assist with documentation
- Community Outreach & Administrative Support (10%)
- Serve as a point of contact for local community groups and students interested in WXPN involvement
- Assist with background checks and documentation for volunteers and student staff
- Participate in relevant team meetings
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required and 2 to 3 years work experience with Volunteer recruitment/management, Marketing or related fields. The Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator must be outgoing with strong interpersonal communication skills. S/he must be well organized, detail-oriented, with strong leadership skills. Must be able to work independently and have the ability to work with a wide variety of personalities. Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Google Drive) and working knowledge of databases a must. Some weekend and evening work required. Knowledge of and interest in WXPN programming a plus. Must have valid driver's license. Background check required.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
