Required Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of computers, networking, and common operating systems (Windows/Mac), and standard software applications.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and learn new systems quickly.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in pursuing a career in information technology.
- Prior customer service or technical support experience (help desk, retail technology support, or school technology support).
Job Summary
The Technical Support Intern provides supervised, hands-on assistance to the Information Technology (IT) department for our technology environment. This entry-level internship is designed for students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in information technology.
Under direct supervision, the intern assists with help desk support, classroom technology, and routine equipment setup. The position emphasizes skill development, exposure to IT service processes, and professional workplace experience. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support campus events.
Specific Job Duties
Help Desk & User Support
- Respond to assigned help desk tickets under supervision.
- Provide basic troubleshooting for hardware, software, and login issues.
- Assist faculty, staff, and students with classroom and office technology use.
- Escalate complex technical problems to IT staff.
Classroom & AV Support
- Assist with setting up and testing classroom equipment (projectors, computers, microphones, and conferencing tools).
- Provide basic audiovisual (AV) support for meetings and campus events.
- Verify functionality of classroom technology prior to scheduled use
Equipment & Technical Assistance
- Assist with support and maintenance of network infrastructure
- Assist with computer deployments, device setup, and peripheral installation.
- Help maintain inventory of computers, monitors, and accessories.
- Perform routine checks of campus technology spaces as directed.
Documentation & Learning Activities
- Document support requests and resolutions in the IT ticketing system.
- Follow established IT procedures and security guidelines.
- Participate in training and shadowing opportunities with IT staff to learn troubleshooting and support practices.
Other
- Perform related duties and special projects assigned within the scope of a supervised learning internship.
Salary Range
$15.00 per hour
