Major Duties

Under the general direction of the Campus Scholarships Coordinator and the Associate Director, the Internal Scholarships Athletic Coordinator coordinates athletic and institutional scholarship processes, ensures regulatory compliance, supports student athletes, processes funding and awards, provides outreach and guidance, and collaborates across campus to deliver accurate, timely financial aid services and scholarship opportunities.

  • Awards all domestic and international student athletes.
  • Tracks and updates international athletes' unit load and updates awards as necessary.
  • Manually disburses monthly scholarships for students who have been approved to receive an athletics scholarship at less than 12 units or who are overawarded.
  • Processes on-campus and off-campus scholarship checks according to established procedures.
  • Provides guidance to students searching for scholarships and answers questions about various scholarship-related topics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a job-related field.
  • Equivalent to two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field.
  • A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
  • Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Prior scholarship administration experience or experience in a college or university financial aid, student affairs, athletics, or student programming office, with a familiarity working with Oracle Student Administration (SOLAR) is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance and Financial Aid Processes
    Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA Division I regulations, Title IV financial aid policies, and foreign tax compliance requirements. Understanding of scholarship awarding, disbursement practices, and coordination of federal, state, and institutional aid, including experience applying complex rules to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analytical, Communication, and Coordination Skills
    Strong ability to analyze student eligibility, track unit loads, and process detailed financial data with precision. Skilled in delivering workshops and individualized guidance, building collaborative partnerships, and communicating complex scholarship information clearly to diverse audiences while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Scholarship Administration and Financial Systems
    Working knowledge of scholarship fund processing, donor eligibility requirements, and financial aid coordination practices. Familiarity with financial aid management systems, reporting tools, and online scholarship platforms, including data entry, reconciliation processes, and system troubleshooting.
  • Attention to Detail and Data Analysis Skills
    Strong ability to review complex data, interpret donor criteria, and make sound, well-reasoned decisions. Demonstrated precision in processing financial transactions, maintaining records, generating reports, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: 3082 / Student Services Professional II / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $ 5083 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $ 5083 - $ 7228 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
  • The position is currently hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
