About This Opportunity
The role of International Student Services Officer is based within the International Services Unit within the BEL Faculty. In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating administrative and academic matters relevant to the admission of the Faculty’s undergraduate international students, as well as the provision of a high level of professional service to prospective and commencing international students.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
International Admissions
Coordinate the receipt and approval process of applications for admission from international students to undergraduate programs within the Faculty in a timely manner.
Assess credit/exemptions from international applicants accepted into undergraduate programs, advise applicants accordingly, and update the UQ Credit Precedent Database.
Provide advice and information to applicants, agents, institutional partners, UQ staff and external agencies about programs and admissions requirements in compliance with University policies and procedures.
Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of key legislation, policies and procedures relevant to international students.
Liaise with UQ’s Admissions Section on matters relating to international student applications.
In conjunction with the BEL International Liaison Officers/Regional Managers, coordinate course equivalence assessments for international partners in preparation for international agreements, in order to maintain quality, currency and integrity of database.
Maintain the integrity of data relating to international students on relevant faculty and university computer systems.
Provide advice and guidance to school and faculty staff on international student admission matters.
Produce correspondence and documentation associated with the admission process.
Additional Responsibilities
Develop and conduct orientation sessions for international students and assist commencing students with program advice and planning.
Represent the Faculty in matters associated with international students, including assistance with promotional activities and events as required.

About You
An undergraduate degree in a relevant area or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Relevant experience in an academic administrative role, preferably with an emphasis on international student administration, and the assessment of overseas qualifications.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in implementing policy and procedures. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with academic and administrative areas within the University and external agencies.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service standards and the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds with sensitivity and awareness of cultural differences; and
Ability to set own priorities, monitor work processes, meet regular deadlines and initiate and take follow up action.
Desirable
Knowledge of legislation relating to international students such as ESOS Act, DHA requirements, etc. or the ability to rapidly gain such knowledge.
Knowledge of University student computer systems e.g. Si-Net, StudyLink and the UQ Reportal, or the ability to rapidly gain such knowledge.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, conduct concerning gender-based violence, criminal check, education check etc.
You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
