Pay Range: $61,700 - $70,000

Hours:
Standard University business hours
8:30am - 5:00pm (academic year)
8:00am - 4:30pm (summer)
Hours may vary based on operational needs.

Job Description:

The Internship Placement Coordinator plays a critical role in enhancing the student experience during the social work internship placement process. This position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating internship planning, supporting students throughout the placement process, and partnering with external organizations to secure quality internship opportunities. The ultimate goal is to ensure successful placements and improve student retention within the academic program.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Coordinate and facilitate internship planning and provide direct support to assigned social work students.
  • Partner with the Online Management Company to identify and secure internship sites for social work students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to retain internship sites and site supervisors.
  • Serve on committees or workgroups within the School of Education (SOE), Social Work program, or University as assigned.
  • Instruct assigned field education courses as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals and student success.

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.

Education and Experience:

  • LMSW or LCSW with 5 years of social work practice experience required.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience facilitating and presenting to groups. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of social work ethics and skills in ethical decision making.
  • Knowledge of cultural humility and cultural competency and ability to engage diversity and difference in practice.
  • Knowledge and skills in supervision or field instruction preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coordinate and facilitate student related placement planning activities to approximately 50 students per semester.
  • Develop and implement field site/site supervisor retention strategies throughout the academic year.
  • Represent field education program on assigned program/college and community committees and work groups as needed.
  • Teach assigned field instruction course as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
