Position Summary
The IRES coordinator will work under the direction of the PI’s and is expected to provide guidance and service to support IRES students. To this end, we plan to reach out to other minority serving institutions in the region virtually to communicate the IRES opportunity and the outcomes of the past IRES trips to the greater geologic, national, and international communities. The IRES coordinator will set up the website to disseminate the results to the greater community, work with the IRES students to summarize their research experience, and aid the students with communicating their personal experiences in the digital realm.
Duties and Responsibilities
TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES : The IRES coordinator will serve in multiple roles to assist with the operation of the program.
- Advance the NMHU geology and media arts presence in the digital realm.
- Maintain a daily log of the IRES research activities.
- Managing confidential information.
- Updating the on-line IRES database of specific projects.
- Establish and maintain a GIS database of studies conducted in the field.
- Preparing videos, photo collages, story maps, and recruitment posters
- Maintain regular attendance
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements
M.S degree in Geology of Media Arts or closely aligned discipline

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, Zoom, and other basic computer functions.
- Familiarity with water resources science tools and techniques.
- Strong communication skills (speaking, writing, telephone, and e-mail).
- General positive attitude.
- Curiosity, enthusiasm, and a solid understanding of the material they are presenting.
- Experience working with the public including a variety of groups and stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate information at various levels of technical detail in a clear and engaging manner.
- Creativity, particularly in developing education and outreach programming.
- Enthusiasm for water resources monitoring and restoration and working with the public.
- Excellent teamwork skills; ability to work as a member of team with diverse skills and backgrounds.
- Ability to manage time, achieve goals, maintain motivation, and independently undertake tasks with minimum of direct supervision.
Physical Demands
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Repetitive hand motion and prolonged use of computer.
- Bending occasionally.
- Squatting occasionally.
Working Environment
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and evenings as required.

$5000 / term
