Qualifications:

MSTE 475-02/575-02 - Health & Physical Education (1 Unit)

ONLINE, Mondays (1/5, 1/12, 1/26) from 5:00 - 8:15 pm and Thursday 1/22 from 5:00 - 8:15 pm

This course examines concepts of health and physical education in the schools. Emphasis is on current health issues for children and adolescents viewed in the context of child development, on the responsibilities of teachers and the school community in promoting child health; on curricular strategies that contribute to the healthful behavior of children, and instruction in the Health and Physical Education Frameworks for California.

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Education or related field
• 5+ years of experience teaching health and/or physical education in K-12 settings
• Knowledge of child development as it relates to health, wellness, and physical activity
• Familiarity with California's Health Education Framework and Physical Education Framework for elementary grades
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies for promoting healthful behaviors in young children
