"Junior Research Fellow"

Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology is recruiting for the position of Junior Research Fellow for the project titled "UAAV based eDNA mapping of an aquatic ecosystem of Loktak lake for fishery management," sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Essential Qualifications: M.Tech / M.E. in Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Water Resources Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related fields; or M.Sc. in Marine Science, Environmental Science, Oceanography, Applied Geology, or related disciplines with relevant skills. Candidates must be GATE / NET / DBT-BET (Category II) qualified.

Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of aerial photogrammetry and spectral image acquisition; proficiency in geospatial tools (ENVI, QGIS/ArcGIS); hands-on experience with echo sounders, bathymetric survey methods, and hydrographic data processing; familiarity with shoreline mapping and aquatic zone characterization; understanding of machine learning/deep learning for dataset fusion and layer masking; experience in Python and MATLAB for scientific computing and model development; ability to use sampling systems for water collection and preservation.

Fellowship: Rs. 39,370 per month (Rs. 31,000 + 27% HRA).

Project Duration: 03 Years.

Job Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
