Junior Specialist - Quandt Lab Diabetes Center
The Quandt Lab in the Diabetes Center at University of California, San Francisco is looking to recruit a Junior Specialist. This is a full-time and on-site position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Incumbent will be expected to help on advanced studies on autoantibodies and defining autoimmune responses in our ongoing autoantibodies.
- Research activities to be carried out by the incumbent will include: flow cytometry analysis, Phage Display immunoprecipitation, cloning, performing in vitro functional assays.
Required Qualifications:
- Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must have (or in process of obtaining) a BA/BS degree in biological sciences (or related science).
- Applicants must have obtained the degree requirement for the Specialist rank by the time of hire.
- Knowledge of and experience with mouse husbandry and handling.
- Comfortable working with laboratory instruments and computers; Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable working with primary human blood samples.
- The ability to work under minimal supervision after the initial training period is key for this position.
- Strong organization skills in time management and maintenance of accurate notebooks and computer files.
- Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and highly motivated to succeed.
- Willingness to be flexible with work hours to accommodate experimental schedules.
- Applicant's materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic cell and molecular biology protocols: antibody assays, tissue culture, PCR, DNA sequence analysis and/or cloning are desirable.
See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000 - $58,600.
