KC Guarantee Scholars Program Coordinator
Job Summary
Incumbents develop, grow, coordinate, and manage the KC Guarantee Program across the district and recruit, advise, coach, and support KC Guarantee Scholars.
Essential Functions
KC Guarantee Scholar Recruitment and Intake (35%):
- Maintain and work a list of prospective KC Guarantee Scholars throughout the year
- Conduct scholarship workshops and information sessions at area high schools and across the district
- Update website and recruitment materials annually
- Collaborate on the design and creation of marketing and recruitment materials for the KC Guarantee Scholars Program
- Create templates and guides for scholarship requirements, scholar expectations, and general MCC navigation
- Screen applicants to ensure they meet eligibility criteria
- Coordinate a KC Guarantee Scholars Orientation to onboard new Scholars annually
KC Guarantee Scholar Coaching and Retention (35%)
- Monitor KC Guarantee Scholar academic progress and collaborate w/pathway advisors at campus of record as needed
- Advocate for KC Guarantee Scholars to ensure their academic and personal needs are being met
- Review Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) with KC Guarantee Scholars every semester
- Ensure KC Guarantee Scholars are meeting important milestones each year (ex. FAFSA completion, applying to graduate, sending transcripts, etc.)
- Monitor KC Guarantee Scholars each semester to ensure they are meeting program requirements.
- Collaborate with pathway advisor to develop an Academic Probation plan for students not meeting program requirements
Programming and Workshops (15%)
- Coordinate programming to support KC Guarantee scholars’ college transfer and/or career readiness preparation
- Develop programming for KC Guarantee Scholars to promote persistence and degree completion
- Plan events for KC Guarantee Scholars to connect with one another and foster community
- Collaborate with other on-campus departments (Campus Life & Leadership, Career Services, Counseling, Student Support Services, etc.) to ensure KC Guarantee Scholar needs are met
KC Guarantee Program Liaison (15%)
- Serve as liaison for the KC Guarantee Scholars Program between MCC and High School partners (Counselors, Real World Learning Coordinators, A+ Coordinators, etc.)
- Track and Report program data and metrics
- Foster and grow relationships with community and area high schools
- Contribute to district-wide efforts to refine / expand KC Guarantee program.
- Serve as point person for inquiries related to the KC Guarantee program.
Additional Duties:
- Incumbents may be required to travel as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years of experience related to education, counseling, scholarship programs, and/or student support services
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of program planning principles
- Knowledge of research methods
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes
- Knowledge of presentation principles and practices
- Knowledge of diverse populations and cultures
- Knowledge of computers and related software applications
- Knowledge of program coordination principles, practices, and techniques
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
- Skilled in interpreting academic program requirements
- Skilled in reviewing and processing paperwork, forms, and/or other related items
- Skilled in developing and implementing programs and workshops
- Skilled in planning, coordinating, and implementing program components and activities
- Skilled in analyzing processes and making recommendations for improvement
- Skilled in researching, analyzing, and applying relevant information to the development of departmental processes and programs
- Skilled in ensuring compliance with applicable internal and/or external program requirements
- Skilled in advising students on applicable policies and procedures
- Skilled in maintaining confidentiality
- Skilled in preparing a variety of reports
- Skilled in troubleshooting and solving program issues
- Skilled in supervising employees
- Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
