Overview

The Department of Neuroscience is a basic research department focusing on synaptic biology and glia biology. The lab of Dr. Dulla investigates how synapses are formed and remodeled in the developing nervous system with a broad focus on neurological disease and epilepsy. We address this question in mouse models and apply electrophysiological and imaging approaches, together with mouse behavioral and in vivo electrophysiological studies.

What You'll Do

Reporting to Principal Investigator, the Lab Manager will be responsible for administrative and technical operations in the lab and will work independently performing a wide range of routine and specialized laboratory duties. Support ongoing immunohistochemical and microscopy based analysis of brain tissue. Develop or modify techniques and protocols. Oversee and manage a mouse colony. Oversee ordering, logistics, and regulatory compliance. Contribute to ongoing projects in the lab and will train/supervise others in the laboratory and help manage laboratory operations and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate will have experience in cryosectioning brain tissue, immunohistochemical techniques, and confocal microscopy.

  • Manage laboratory operations, ordering, logistics, and regulatory compliance. Support on-boarding and training new personnel. Assists in lab-wide communications and scheduling such as lab-meetings, external speaker visits, organizes lab-wide outings etc.
  • Manages laboratory operations - Train, supervise, and evaluate performance of technical personnel, ensures compliance with university safety and OSHA requirements; participate in university committees when necessary and oversees ordering and inventory of supplies, equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Carry out experiments in the lab using microscopy and immunolabeling of brain tissue.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
  • Bachelor's Degree in science with 3+ years experience or
  • Experience working with mice and managing mouse colonies
  • Experience working with mouse brain cryosectioning, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Neuroscience or a related biology field
  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal), highly organized, strong attention to detail, analytic ability, and ability to multitask in a busy environment.

Pay Range

Minimum $72,500.00, Midpoint $90,700.00, Maximum $108,900.00

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
