Pay Scale: STANDARD GRADE 3 Salary: £27,534 - £28,437 per annum

Contract type: Permanent Hours: Full-time (36.5 hours per week)

About the role

The Department of Biochemistry are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Support Technician who will be based in the centralized Glass-washing, Media Production, and Scientific Waste Service (MGSL) and will work across two laboratories: Glass Wash and Biological Waste, with Biological Waste being the primary responsibility. The post holder will also support other MGSL team members with the Media Production service. This role includes a variety of duties to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the laboratory facilities.

This is a full-time permanent post, and the actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.

About you

You will be educated to GCSE equivalent or higher and understand basic techniques used in a biological laboratory, with an ability to accurately and regularly follow predetermined protocols. You should be able to work with minimal supervision, as well as being able to support team members. IT skills are essential, with a demonstrable ability to utilise standard programs such as Excel and Word. The post requires manual dexterity with a reasonable level of physical fitness.
