The Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management & International Studies was founded by brothers Leonard and Ronald Lauder in 1983 in honor of their father, Joseph H. Lauder. The Lauder Institute provides a fully integrated business education for a new generation of leaders.

Reporting to the Director of Student Services at the Lauder Institute, the Lauder Global Career Advisor is a dedicated career resource for approximately 150 Lauder MA/MBA students and a key connector to the global Lauder alumni community. The Advisor's primary responsibility is to provide high-touch career advising, planning, and recruiting support with a strong focus on international and globally oriented careers. The role partners closely with Wharton MBA Career Management to align advising, programming, and employer outreach, ensuring that Lauder students fully leverage Wharton resources while receiving specialized guidance tailored to their dual-degree, language, and regional focus.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group advising to Lauder MA/MBA students on all stages of the job search, including self-assessment, career exploration, international opportunities, industry and regional recruiting processes, and decision-making. Extend and further differentiate international career advising at the Lauder Institute.
  • Design and facilitate Lauder-specific workshops, advising circles, and office hours that complement Wharton MBA Career Management programming (e.g., global sector prep, international job search strategies, cross-border mobility, and region/language-focused sessions).
  • Serve as the primary Lauder liaison to Wharton MBA Career Management, coordinating advising approaches, sharing student and market insights, and aligning communications and recruiting processes so Lauder students experience seamless support across both degrees.
  • Develop and manage Lauder-relevant career content within Wharton platforms (e.g., MAP/My Action Plan and related tools), including updating action plans, curating external resources, contributing podcasts or short videos, and communicating time-sensitive advice to students.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with alumni, corporations, non-profits, government entities, and multilateral organizations-particularly those with international or cross-border talent needs-to support internship and full-time opportunities for Lauder students. Manage job postings and student/employer inquiries in coordination with MBA Career Management.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in career counseling/coaching, MBA or graduate career services, recruiting, talent management, or a related field-or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience advising or coaching individuals on career strategy and job search execution, ideally in a business, consulting, finance, or other corporate/organizational context.
  • Strong knowledge of business careers and recruiting practices, with familiarity in at least one major sector relevant to Lauder students (e.g., consulting, finance, technology, consumer, healthcare, public sector, or social impact).
  • Evidence of interest and experience in international careers, global job markets, and/or cross-border mobility (e.g., advising international students, working with global employers, or living/working abroad).
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written/oral communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with highly motivated, diverse, and international student and alumni populations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a matrixed environment and to work effectively with senior administrators, faculty, staff, employers, and alumni.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and peak workloads during intensive recruiting periods.

Preferred:

  • MBA or other relevant graduate degree (e.g., counseling, higher education, international affairs, HR/talent development).
  • Executive or career coaching certification (e.g., ICF or equivalent) and/or formal training in coaching methodologies.
