Manager, Strategic Partnership Development- Site Based Learning

Reporting to the Director of the Center of Site-Based Learning (SBL) and services, the Manager of Strategic Partnership Development- SBL will have ownership of the strategy, implementation, and execution of our SBL partnership development strategy. This role will focus on generating new site-based learning pathways for learners by developing and growing partnerships for the successful placement of students for program required site-based learning experiences.
Depending on location to our headquarters in Minneapolis, MN this position may be considered hybrid (Tuesdays and Wednesdays preferred).Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and Implement Strategic Plan
- In partnership with the Director of SBLS, create new strategies and evolve existing strategic partnership development to align with progressive growth goals and regulatory requirements.
- Develop a set of best practices that will be the foundation for strategic partnership development.
- Drive additional strategic opportunities with existing partners.
- Collaborate across the organization to understand and influence strategic priorities and help drive visibility for strategic partnership development activities.
Build and Execute Strategic Partnership Development Activities and Processes:
- Generate activities necessary to develop relationships including initiating and planning a formal launch, developing and implementing tools, executing promotional events such as industry trade shows, conferences and presentations.
- Build, maintain and enhance partner’s experience through consultative conversation and offering program knowledge coupled with excellent customer service.
- Track progress of existing partnerships and implement tracking and reporting for partner metrics.
- Collaborate across the organization to leverage appropriate resources to deliver the best solution for the site-based learning learners and the client.
People Leadership and Management
- Direct supervision of a team of Strategic Partnership Development- industry managers.
- Coaches, motivates, and develops team members.
- Assists team members with the resolution of issues; serve as a resource person to team members and peers. Provides a communication channel for the team and other internal teams/departments.
- Recommends and implements departmental policies and procedures to maximize output.
Connect Learners to Partners
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of programs within Capella University as well as learner needs.
- Provide feedback and suggestions from clients to ensure solutions continue to evolve and align with their needs.
Other Responsibilities:

Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading teams, preferably in higher education sales, B2B or business development.
- Minimum 5 years experience in partnership development or B2B.
- A proven ability to develop and foster relationship.
- A proven history of successful contract negotiation.
- Must have exceptional presentation skills, and the ability to quickly alter outreach approach based on client response.
- Ability to lead innovation among diverse set of stakeholders and interests.
- Management experience in leading projects.
- Demonstrated abilities to work collaboratively across departments to understand multiple perspectives, synthesize data, influence and inform decision-making and achieve results at a high-level of proficiency.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business, education, counseling/psychology, nursing, social work, or similar, from an accredited institution required, master’s degree preferred.
- All degrees must be conferred from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Other:
- Must be able to travel occasionally should a business need arise. For most roles travel would not be common. Travel may involve plane, car or metro. In accordance with ADA policies, reasonable accommodations regarding travel limitations can be provided. Travel will be more common for roles such as Account Executives (25 - 50%), senior leaders (10 – 20%) or Capella Core Faculty (5 – 10%).
- Ability to work onsite in Corporate or Campus location (in a typical office environment) may be required based on role. If so, this would include being mobile within the office, including movement from floor-to-floor using elevators or stairs.
- If offsite or hybrid role, must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.
- Faculty and Federal Work Study roles require access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including computer, privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.

- Must be able to meet critical thinking and problem solving aspects aligned to job duties, as well as effectively communicating with co-workers.
