Associate or Assistant Professor of Exercise Science
The Department of Applied Health Sciences at Baker University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Associate or Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Public Health programs within the College of Arts and Sciences, beginning January 2025. The exercise science program is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES). These positions are in well-established and continuously growing programs of excellence.
The primary responsibility for the Associate or Assistant Professor of Exercise Science position includes teaching undergraduate courses with preference given to candidates with the ability and experience to teach a range of courses in the exercise science major. Secondarily, this person will be responsible for the exercise science accreditation coordination by serving as the Exercise Science Program Director. Strong candidates will maintain primary expertise in exercise science and/or subspecialties in human anatomy, exercise programming, kinesiology, or exercise physiology.
The position requires applicants that are dedicated to teaching in a small (ca. 900-student) college setting with a 4/4 teaching load and be committed to student-centered learning. With additional responsibilities including student advising and usual service to the department, university, and community.

Job Requirements
- Terminal degree (PhD, DSc, or EdD) in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology or a related field and have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship; candidates with ABD will be considered, provided the dissertation is completed within one year of employment
- MPH and/or documented professional experience in the field
- Experience in and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at the collegiate level or a documented record of at least five years of professional involvement in the discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence and commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising
- ACSM-EP or NSCA-CSCS certification
- The ability to work collaboratively across disciplines (e.g., research, curricular development, service)
