Description
The Glenn Department of Civil Engineering and The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences is hiring a teaching track faculty member to teach classes in civil engineering with a transportation systems and site development specialty. The lecturer will be responsible for team-teaching a sophomore introductory design class and a senior capstone design class. In addition, the lecturer should be able to teach transportation engineering classes including a required multi-disciplinary introduction to transportation engineering class, and a senior/master's level highway design class. The ability to teach a fundamentals of surveying class is highly desirable. The candidate must have a postgraduate degree in a relevant field. Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D or similar software is needed. Land development professional experience would be ideal. The candidate should be a licensed professional civil engineer or have the ability to acquire licensure once experience requirements are met. Additional job duties may include committee assignments, student advising, and support of student organizations (e.g. ITE, ASCE).
This is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track academic, professional faculty position with a combination of teaching (which may also take the form of serving as a rotating professional formation expert across selected courses), implementation of evidence-based scholarship on teaching and learning, and assessment responsibilities. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to teaching and mentoring of students, faculty development, and continuous improvement of academic programs.
Qualifications
The candidate must have a postgraduate degree in a relevant field. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level transportation engineering courses, and undergraduate land development aspects of team taught courses is required. Ability to teach an introductory surveying class is highly desirable. Professional experience in land development and/or transportation engineering including roadway design is highly desirable. Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D or similar software is needed.
