Lecturer in French Film Studies - Grade 7
The Department of Languages, Cultures & Film wishes to appoint to a fixed-term Lectureship (Teaching and Scholarship) in French and Francophone Film to provide cover for a colleague on a Leverhulme Fellowship. The successful candidate will be a key member of our French and Film Studies teams, working with colleagues to maintain and enhance our undergraduate programmes and to help deliver our MA in Film Studies launched in 2024.
You should have a PhD in French or Francophone Film Studies or a relevant related discipline and provide clear evidence of teaching experience in Film and Postcolonial Studies. You should also be able to demonstrate sensitivity to diverse cultural contexts; a focus on transnational and intercultural approaches to French and Film Studies is what makes our degree programmes in Liverpool unique and attractive, and the department actively encourages comparative, global, transnational and transcultural approaches. Active engagement with scholarship in the field of Francophone Film Studies is expected, as is the demonstration of leadership in high-quality teaching innovations.
This post is Fixed Term, available from 1st September 2026 until 31st August 2027.
