LECTURER IN MUSIC (COMMERCIAL MUSIC)

The School of Music is seeking a Lecturer in Music (Commercial Music). Full-time, 9-month, fixed-term position. May be renewable.
Required: Graduate degree in music production, music engineering, music technology, recording arts, or similar field. Commensurate professional experience in music production will be considered in lieu of a graduate degree. Professional teaching experience in higher education (beyond GA duties) in the field of music technology, production, or related areas. Experience using and teaching a variety of Digital Audio Workstations and virtual instruments. Experience producing/teaching a variety of popular musical styles and genres. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred: Experience teaching music theory fundamentals and aural skills for audio engineers. Experience teaching class guitar (electric and acoustic). Experience organizing/coaching/leading student popular music ensembles.
Duties include: Teach courses as assigned in Commercial Music and related areas of expertise including ‘pop’ or commercial music ensemble; assist with the development of coursework in the Commercial Music degree; additional duties including participating on joint interdepartmental Commercial Music Council may be assigned in accordance with areas of expertise and in consultation with the Director of the School of Music.
