Lecturer in Politics (Political Theory)
The Department of Politics at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for two 4-credit courses in the subfield of political theory to be offered in Spring 2026: Democratic Theory (Politics 190a) and a Special Topics Course (Politics 193a).
The Democratic Theory course explores the nature, virtues, and limitations of democracy as a way of organizing political affairs. It is an intermediate level undergraduate course.
The Special Topics course can be on a topic proposed by applicants. This course can be offered as an intermediate or advanced undergraduate course in political theory.
Candidates with an MA or PhD in political science and training in Political Theory will be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, CV, draft course syllabi, and names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is October 15, 2025.
This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
