Lecturer - Molecular & Cell Biology
The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of non-tenure track Lecturer positions to teach MCB courses as needed.
Teaching Responsibilities: Lecturers will teach or co-teach courses in areas such as Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology; Cell Biology, Development and Physiology; Genetics, Genomics, Evolution and Development; Immunology and Molecular Medicine; and Molecular Therapeutics. Courses may include lectures, seminars, and laboratories of various sizes.
General Duties: In addition to teaching, duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), maintaining a course website, and using a learning management system.
Position Overview: Position title: Lecturer. Salary range: A reasonable estimate is $70,977 - $120,835. Percent time: Part-time or Full-time. Anticipated start: Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and/or Spring 2026.
Qualifications: Basic qualifications: A Master's degree (or equivalent) is required by the time of application for laboratory and lecturer courses. Additional qualifications: A Ph.D. or M.D. (or equivalent) is required by the time of hire for lecturer courses. Preferred qualifications: Experience teaching biological or life sciences at the college level; ability to support student success through inclusive practices.
