Position Title:Lecturer, MSW Program

Salary/Pay Rate:$75,000 - $80,000

Job Summary:

The Social Work & Sociology department in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a full-time Lecturer of Social Work to serve both our on-ground BSW program and our online MSW program. While the majority of course assignments will be in the MSW program, at least one course each semester will be in the undergraduate BSW program. This position will begin in the fall of 2026. Our new online MSW program opened successfully in June 2025 to robust enrollment. We are under review by CSWE and have completed Benchmark 2 and are awaiting results from the Board of Accreditation (BOA) at CSWE in March 2026 with the confidence that we are moving forward with the final phase of the accreditation cycle—Benchmark 3. We are seeking a Lecturer who will carry a 24-credit course load. The Marist online program requires faculty to work intentionally to provide interactive course content that includes providing weekly recorded lectures, and engaging content that promotes critical thinking, active learning, and academic rigor. We seek dynamic faculty who model the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for ethical practice. The MSW is a new program, and the BSW program has been accredited for more than 20 years. We welcome colleagues interested in working with us to create best practices for training our students. The applicant is expected to work with all team members to support our ongoing review by CSWE as we seek accreditation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MSW from a CSWE accredited institution
  • Prior experience teaching online at the BSW and/or MSW level, with a strong commitment to student-centered, inclusive practicum education.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide high quality online course experiences by creating comprehensive and rich Learning Management Sites; Marist uses Brightspace Learning Management System.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to graduate students
  • Be accessible to students via online office hours
  • Participate in BSW and MSW department meetings
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with CSWE accreditation, assessment, and reporting requirements.
  • Engage in professional development as appropriate for the position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Social Work or Sociology, or DSW, by fall of 2027 is preferred.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and digital tools, including learning management systems (Brightspace).
  • Capacity and passion for promoting active learning within an asynchronous learning platform (i.e. recorded lectures)
  • Ability to function in a highly engaged team environment where everyone has a role in building a high quality learning environment for all students.

  + Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.

About the Department/School:

The Social Work & Sociology department is one of four departments in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The other departments are psychology, crime and justice studies, and teacher education. The School also has graduate programs as follows: MA School Psychology; MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Masters of Arts in Teaching; MS in Education, Contemporary Curriculum and Instruction and Masters in Social Work. The Social Work & Sociology Department and the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences are committed to advancing an inclusive learning environment.
