Department Information

Within this setting, we seek faculty who will provide a rigorous, engaged, and varied education in Philosophy. The department has an active student community and offers majors in Philosophy, Philosophy with a Concentration in Religious Studies, and Philosophy with a Concentration in Law. We embrace the teacher-scholar model and look for faculty who engage students in a cooperative and supportive atmosphere. We also value connections to the community and work that reaches out to the public. The person hired into this position will be expected to contribute actively to the further growth of the program through excellent teaching and engagement with students.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Department Chair, the Lecturer in Philosophy position requires teaching up to 5 undergraduate courses per semester, mentoring and supporting students, and participating in service responsibilities. The position is a full time, non-tenure track, academic year (10 month) appointment.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned Ph.D. in Philosophy by August 1, 2026
  • Experience teaching Introduction to Philosophy
  • Qualifications to teach Introduction to Ethics
  • Qualifications to teach Critical Thinking
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.

Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
