The Dean’s Office at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, is seeking qualified applicants for a part time, academic staff – teaching (Lecturer) position, starting September 1, 2026. This lecturer will teach multiple sections of a class on practical writing in our MBA Program.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Teach the basics of simple, conversational, persuasive writing for emails, cold-call outreaches, business pitches, LinkedIn profiles, stories and speeches, feedback to colleagues, responses to difficult questions, and opinion pieces;
- Provide helpful feedback on 500-700 short assignments – like cold-call emails, memos, talks and op-eds – during the 9 or 10 sessions of the course.
We expect the successful candidate to:
- Bring significant experience in business communication;
- Be constructive and upbeat in both teaching style and feedback;
- Engage the students with warmth, humor and personal attention (most of all, through regular feedback);
- Embrace artificial intelligence and show how best to use it;
- Bring in guest experts in business writing to enrich the instruction.
Prior teaching experience is beneficial but not required. This lecturer will ideally teach for at least a few years (not just one).

The expected base pay range for this position is:
Lecturer: $190,000 - $200,000 (this range is for 100% FTE; the final compensation will be prorated based on the %FTE of the position). Positions for less than 50% FTE are not benefits eligible.
