Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Midwifery x2

We are seeking innovative professionals to join our midwifery academic team. The successful candidates will play a key role in enhancing interprofessional collaboration and contributing to our mission of providing holistic education and support.

You will be expected to support us in delivering Kingston University's Town House Strategy, contribute to the department’s teaching and learning portfolio, and deliver our wide-ranging education provision.

If you feel that you are able to inspire, motivate and communicate with students to promote their development, then this role is for you. Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University values, as we are proud to be an ambitious, inclusive, innovative, and enterprising organisation.

The Department of Midwifery is looking to appoint a full-time member of staff at the Lecturer /Senior Lecturer level (dependent upon experience). The successful applicant will provide students with the teaching and support they need to get the very most from their education. The role will also involve working closely with clinical placement providers, participating in the ongoing development of our midwifery programmes, and supporting the development of simulated and skills teaching. Conducting research and scholarly activity is essential in ensuring that these programmes continually reflect the evolving needs of the healthcare sector and best practices, as well as influencing national and global policy development and strategy.

Applicants must meet Kingston University’s learning and teaching standards. By the end of probation, you must achieve the relevant UKPSF recognition if not already obtained—either through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching programme for new lecturers or the Kingston Academic Practice Standards framework for experienced educators.

There are two part-time (29.60 hours per week and 22.20 hours per week), permanent positions available with a starting salary of £44,404 per annum (pro rata) for Lecturer and £49,468 per annum (pro rata) for Senior Lecturer, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Interviews are expected to be held on Wednesday, 10 September 2025.

For informal enquiries, please contact Georgina Sims, Associate Professor.

Bring your true self, expertise, and passion to Kingston where we are continuing to strive to build a university where authentic inclusion and belonging is at its heart. Every one of our staff and students’ identities, backgrounds and diverse experiences makes us who we are - so harness and embrace yours by applying today. We welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities and those with disabilities.

We are a place-based organisation, proud of our location in Kingston and the civic role we play in our community. Our campuses inspire collaborative, innovative and creative communities. Being present on campus is important to us because it helps us to create a sense of belonging for both our staff and students. Therefore, staff are expected to be on campus for the majority of their working week.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required, this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

To apply, please email jobs@kingston.ac.uk or call the HR Shared Services team on 020 8417 3118 for alternative formats.
