Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Pre-Registration Nursing (UN5365)
Part-time, Fixed term for 1 year: 0.5FTE, 18.5 hours per week

The Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Sciences are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to contribute primarily to the Pre-registration BSc Nursing Programmes. This post is looking to recruit an experienced and passionate Mental Health Nurse. The successful applicant will provide input of all modules situated in the undergraduate curriculum.
The undergraduate nursing area includes BSc Nursing in Adult, Children and Young People, Mental Health and Learning Disability and FdSc Nursing Associate. Both routes are also offered via an apprenticeship. We have a commitment to supporting students and strive for high quality experiences which is reflected in our high Guardian League table ranking and NSS scores.
The successful applicant will support the teaching, learning and assessment primarily of pre-registration nursing students and apprentices on campus and online via a blended learning approach or in a practice setting. The learner voice and experience will be central to all aspects of course delivery. The post will include that of personal teacher and academic assessor.
The post holder, alongside the programme team, will be responsible for ensuring adherence to quality assurance processes and professional regulatory requirements to support the high-quality delivery of this programme of education.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative graduate mental health nurse with current mental health NMC registration, with Masters level study (desirable). You will have post graduate experience and be able to demonstrate experience in supporting students within a clinical and/or educational setting.
Experience of teaching and assessing in a university or clinical setting will be an advantage so that you can evidence and demonstrate your ability to work across the pre-registration curriculum at levels 4, 5 and 6 as per the job description.
You will be conversant with the NMC future standards and be competent in being able to teach those skills as required by the NMC proficiencies. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and lead and manage work as well as develop the skills to plan and deliver learning.
You will be highly motivated to assist students to achieve particularly those experiencing academic and personal vulnerabilities. You will display excellent communication skills which will enable you to confidently network with new and existing partners of the course programmes and university.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
- Relevant professional qualification (Nursing Midwifery Council Registration)
- Professional recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale
Desirable:
- Master’s degree in relevant subject
- Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
