Post-Doctoral Research Associate: Vibrational Design in Confinement (Fixed Term)
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
Applicants are invited to apply for a position in the group of Dr. Mariana Rossi. The candidate will work on topics related to the ERC-Consolidator Grant QUADYMM: https://www.mpsd.mpg.de/921666/2024-12-erc-rossi
The candidate will perform simulations of confined molecular materials and develop techniques to simulate quantum nuclear dynamics including dissipative non-adiabatic effects. Areas of application will include water and aromatic molecules at interfaces, in and out of equilibrium.
We are looking for highly qualified candidates with experience in the field of machine-learning for atomistic simulations, molecular dynamics techniques and code development. Experience with the electronic-structure code FHI-aims is beneficial.
The candidate should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in the fields of Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science. Successful candidates will show proficiency in scientific programming and mathematics, as well as a strong background in theoretical and computational solid-state physics, physical chemistry or chemical physics.
Appointment at the Research Associate level is dependent on the award of a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at the Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the award of the PhD has been confirmed.
We particularly welcome applications from women and/or candidates from a BME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our department.
