- Salary Package: Level B from $123,435 to $146,044 p.a. or Level C from $150,714 to $173,323 p.a. plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading
- Appointment Type: full-time, continuing position
- Located at: Macquarie University (Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde)
This position is being advertised in the first instance to casual academic staff who have worked at the University in the current or previous academic year, in accordance with clause 13 of the Macquarie University Academic Staff Enterprise Agreement 2023. Appointments to positions advertised under this clause will be subject to a competitive, merit-based selection process.
The Role
The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) is seeking a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer Nursing Academic for appointment to the Teaching and Leadership academic job family to support the development of the academic nursing program including the design, development, implementation and accreditation of a new Master of Nursing as a pre-registration qualification.
Working in close collaboration with the University’s academic health sciences centre, Macquarie University Health you will also contribute to interprofessional health education, nursing professional practice development, leadership and research, across Macquarie University Health. The position will be located within the School of Health Sciences and Nursing, and will report to the Head of School.

About You
The successful applicant will be actively engaged as an experienced nurse academic with demonstrated experience in teaching, unit design and development. You will also have experience with, or a willingness to embrace, educational technology, blended learning and educational innovation. In addition, ideally you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the integration between research/practice and quality teaching, and how this integration can enhance student engagement.

Selection Criteria
Essential
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- A Master’s qualification in Nursing or Education and/or a PhD in a related field. Candidates without a PhD must either be actively working towards one in a related field or demonstrate equivalent clinical and/or educational experience.
- Demonstrated academic knowledge and experience to deliver high-quality learning and teaching in academic nursing, including the design, delivery, and management of online content, lectures, tutorials, and assessments.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to relate to staff and students from all backgrounds, work effectively in a team environment, and to represent the faculty to external stakeholders and the general public.
- Demonstrated success in the academic leadership in the delivery/development of units and/or courses using innovative approaches, including evidence of positive outcomes (Level C).
- Experience with research student supervision (Level C).
Desirable
- Demonstrated engagement and contribution to nursing practice through industry partnerships, consulting, advocacy, education, or research development.
- Experience in mental health or primary healthcare.
- A well-articulated research agenda and a track record of publications in high-quality journals (Level C).
Specific role requirements
This position requires criminal record and qualifications checking and employment in this position is also conditional upon holding a Working with Children Check Clearance.
This position requires you to comply with occupational screening, assessment and vaccinations in line with Macquarie University health requirements and requires a current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW.
