The Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University invites applications for the SUNY Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG Plus) Fellowship Program which focuses on two primary goals (1) increasing the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates. PRODiG Plus is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the lecturer level at the annual salary of $80,000 including full benefits to commence Fall 2026. The fellow will be a part of a mentored research environment with a reduced teaching load. At the completion of this two-year position, fellows with an upward trajectory of scholarly achievement and a demonstrated contribution to inclusion, diversity, and equity will be invited to join the tenure-track faculty at Stony Brook University through an internal promotion process.

The PRODiG Plus Fellow will join the department of psychology in one of our four program areas: clinical psychological science, cognitive science, integrative neuroscience, or social and health. We are seeking a Fellow whose academic scholarship, preferably, compliments the department’s existing strengths in health disparities, lifespan development, and/or affective/cognitive science.

Candidates must have demonstrated plans to contribute to inclusion, diversity and equity, excellence in innovative research (with the potential for funding), and potential to participate in the undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring mission of the psychology department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
  • Have a PhD in psychology (or foreign equivalent), or a closely related field. or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed before the start date
  • Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A record of publication(s), preferably relevant to health disparities, lifespan development, and/or affective/cognitive science.
  • Evidence of, or potential for funding.
  • Ability/potential to teach and mentor students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Preference will be given to candidates who are: Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows. From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
