Job Description

General Summary:

Under the direction of the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Librarian will plan, develop, implement and maintain the Library for the College of the Muscogee Nation. The Librarian will direct and manage the library including computers lab and student workers. This individual will teach a minimum of one college course per semester, as necessary, and be comfortable in multicultural and Native American classroom settings. Expected to follow College of the Muscogee Nation and Regents board level policy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plan, develop, implement, and maintain the college library.
2. Set-up and coordinate a computerized learning resource laboratory.
3. Teach a minimum of one college course each semester, as needed.
4. Be available to students by holding publicly posted office hours.
5. Administer library program.
6. Assist with accreditation processes.
7. Be actively engaged in the assessment of student learning.

Functions

1. Adhere to the policies of the College of the Muscogee Nation and its Board of Regents.
2. Develop a college library plan which will include funding resources.
3. Prepare an Annual and Long Range Budget and Staffing Plan.
4. Supervise library student workers.
5. Implement a property management program for equipment and resources.
6. Use effective teaching methods and classroom administration.
7. Maintain the college librarys collection or books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials.
8. Assists groups and individuals in location, obtaining and using materials.
9. Must be open to periodic evaluations including classroom observations by senior academic affairs officers.
10. Must be a willing collaborator with instructors in other fields.
11. Able to work with student support services as part of a team to protect the retention of the student.
12. Furnish information on library activities, facilities, rules, and services.
13. Serve on College committees.
14. Remain current in your field through professional development and periodical subscriptions.
15. Annual leave must be taken during breaks between trimesters and should not be taken during trimesters when classes are being held. Also, prior to and after the trimester, faculty must be available to start or complete their instructional responsibilities.
16. Any and all other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Job specifications:

1. Minimum Requirements –An earned masters degree from an accredited institution in Library Science or related fields or a bachelors degree and a minimum two years recent work experience in the library field. Minimum of 18 graduate level course work in the discipline they teach in general education.

2. Preferred Requirements – Work experience in higher education settings. Exemplary oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

3. Special Considerations – Ability to speak the Muscogee Creek language is preferable but not requirement. Native American and Veteran preference.

Licensure (If appropriate):

Valid drivers license. Teaching certificate helpful, but not mandatory.
