Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The lifePATH Job Coach is responsible for coordinating lifePATH Foundations Campus Job Shadow and Community Internship experiences for second year students in lifePATH Foundations. The lifePATH Job Coach will accompany lifePATH Foundations student groups during their Campus Job Shadow and Community Internship experiences in either Customer Service or Pet Care, arrange student transportation for group community internships, and monitor group activities, supervised by site supervisor, in both lifePATH Foundations Campus Job Shadow and Community Internships.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Accompanies and monitors lifePATH Foundations students, supervised by the site supervisor, in their group Campus Job Shadow locations on the LSC-Tomball campus during each Fall semester as they engage in the job tasks outlined by assigned faculty who visit the job shadow site, frequently
  2. Reports observations, problems, data, and other relevant information to the assigned faculty, internship manager, or director
  3. Coordinates in-class speakers from established Job Shadow departments for lifePATH Foundations students
  4. Accompanies and supervises lifePATH Foundations students, supervised by the site supervisor, in their group Community Internship locations during each Spring semester as they engage in the job tasks outlined by assigned faculty who visit the internship site, frequently
  5. Collaborates with the Internship Manager and Director to coordinate transportation for lifePATH Foundation students to and from the community internships
  6. Collaborates with Internship Manager and instructors assigned to assess student learning within Campus Job Shadow and Community Internship placements in order to ensure student tasks reflect instructor identified learning needs
  7. Monitors, passes on information, and coordinates changes with Campus Job Shadow supervisors, Community Internship Supervisors, assigned faculty, and the Internship Manager pertaining to schedule changes and student learning needs communicated by assigned instructors and Job Shadow/Community Internship Supervisors
  8. Coordinates meetings between stakeholders (ie., supervisors, instructors, internship manager, students) to facilitate problem-solving solutions and task changes, as needed
  9. Maintains positive relationships with internal and external constituents
  10. Collaborates with Internship Manager, assigned faculty, and the lifePATH Director to coordinate professional development opportunities for campus Job Shadow Supervisors and Community Internship Partners
  11. Assist the Internship Manager and Director in developing marketing materials and strategies for recruiting and maintaining Job Shadow Supervisors and Community Internship Partners
  12. Maintains records concerning student's Job Shadow and Community Internship schedule, duties, supervisor, student contact information, and other data needed for communication and collaboration with all stakeholders
  13. Follows standard emergency and problem-solving procedures for the Job Shadow Site or Internship Site, if needed
  14. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of executive functioning disabilities and intellectual disabilities and possible impact on following instructions, learning new material, and following social norms
  • Ability to represent Lone Star College to community partners in a positive light
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with community and campus members
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to adjust communication to meet the needs of neurodivergent adult populations and adults with intellectual disabilities
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to create spreadsheets and track data
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Education
  • Experience working with people considered neurodivergent or with intellectual disabilities
  • Valid Texas driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching students considered neurodivergent or with intellectual disabilities

Salary

Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375
