Limited-Term Lecturer, full-time, non-tenure track, for the Spring 2026 semester and the 2026–27 Academic Year

RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach music theory at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Undergraduate teaching may include the supervision of graduate teaching assistants. The focus of the assignment for Spring 2026 will be MUSI 3550 (Music Theory for Non-Majors), which the successful candidate will help redesign for the 2026–27 academic year. Additional courses could include undergraduate core, upper-level or graduate electives, or courses intended for non-major audiences. Teaching load is four courses per semester.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Music Theory or a doctoral degree in a related field.

Additional Requirements
At least 2 years college-level teaching experience in music theory.
Applicants without a terminal degree must hold a master’s degree in Music Theory, document exceptional accomplishments in the field, and be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Candidates with research or teaching background relating to public music theory, active learning, popular and media musics, and/or musics historically ignored in the core music theory cannon are especially encouraged to apply.
