Limited Term (three year) Assistant Teaching Professor (ATP)

Start Date: September 1, 2026 or as negotiated

The School of Public Health and Social Policy, within the Faculty of Health, at the University of Victoria, provides a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Public Health and a Master of Public Health (MPH). It also administers the Interdisciplinary Social Dimensions of Health (SDH) program, which offers MA, MSc, and PhD degrees.

The University of Victoria School of Public Health and Social Policy invites applications from qualified individuals for a Limited Term (three year) Assistant Teaching Professor (ATP) position. The three-year term may begin no earlier than 1 September 2026.

Salary RankThe candidate's qualifications, experience and overall market demand will determine a candidate’s final salary offer. The salary for this position includes a competitive salary range of $114,000 - $130,000.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Substantial university- or college-level teaching experience in public health, the social and structural determinants of health, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to teach across undergraduate and graduate programs in both online and in-person settings
  • Experience with course development, curriculum design, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, including respect for Indigenous ways of knowing and being, and evidence of social justice and/or anti-racist approaches to teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and participate in the life of the school, including serving on campus-based committees, curriculum working groups and participating in on campus extra-curricular student events
  • Experience working with the health or social services sector, in public health and/or health policy roles; and/or health policy experience
  • The following is considered an asset: experience with student mentorship and supervision (e.g., research, practicum)
