The Summer Temp is a 40 hour per week position; active between the spring and fall semesters. This position aids in the administration and operation of the Office of Spiritual Development by fulfilling professional administrative tasks to enhance and fulfill the department outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support department staff with general business administration and customer support for the office's goals and objectives.
- Competently utilize Microsoft Office and other professional software tools.
- Support department with requested data entry, data collection, organization, reports, and presentations.
- Professionally apply critical-thinking and problem-solving to assigned work.
- Professionally serve external and internal customers, such as greeting visitors in the office and responding to inquiries via phone and email.
- Support department projects and events by preparing materials, conducting basic research, and helping with logistics.
- Be available to assist the Promotions and Communications team, as needed outside of normal office hours, with on-campus events (Study Abroad Fair, Global Focus Week, Workshops, Trainings, and other promotional tabling.) including but not limited to set up, event participation, tear down, and the reorganization of materials upon completion of event(s).
- Be available outside of normal office hours to provide hospitality and assistance to guests as needed.
- Work effectively as a team member of LU Send, embracing and fostering the mission and events of OSD and Liberty University.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
- Computer knowledge, including MS Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Work well independently and as a team member
ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB
Communication and Comprehension
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer skills, especially Microsoft office; ability to learn new skills quickly.

- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
- Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
- Regularly lift 25 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate.
Driving Requirements
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position.
