Maintenance Technician I
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Assistant performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks, troubleshoots, and diagnoses issues in order to determine the correct course of action. Performs preventive maintenance. Inspects buildings regularly and addresses any maintenance issues immediately, along with providing documentation. In addition, this position assists other maintenance, custodial, and crafts staff when needed.

The ideal candidate is a reliable, detail-oriented team player with basic repair skills who can communicate effectively, follow directions, and stay organized in a hands-on maintenance environment. This individual is eager to learn, comfortable troubleshooting routine issues, and committed to completing preventive maintenance to keep facilities safe and functional. A successful candidate will take initiative in identifying maintenance needs, use tools properly, document work as needed, and collaborate with supervisors, maintenance technicians, custodial staff, and crafts to support daily operations.
Hiring Range:
$19.08*Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.*
Minimum Requirements:
- No formal education
- 6 months of experience
- In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis, may be substituted
- Valid Texas Drivers License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) required with no more than 3 moving violations and no citations for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past 36 months
Skills:
- Basic repair skills and proper use of associated tools
- Communication skills, both oral and written
- Organizational skills
Essential Functions:
- Performs preventive maintenance
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses issues in order to determine the correct course of action
- For more complex issues, coordinates diagnosis and repair with supervisors and generates work orders
- Inspects, repairs, and cleans machinery, equipment, tools, and work areas
- Makes recommendations for materials and supplies needed to maintain inventory
- Assists other Maintenance Technicians and crafts
- Performs all other duties as assigned
