Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The Office of Housing and Residence Life at UNCW employs a staff of students and temporary maintenance workers during the summer. The primary mission is to assist the full-time Maintenance Staff in performing routine maintenance work and are an important part of the day-to-day operations in the summer transitions process. A major area of responsibility emphasized is customer service. Please refer to the position description below for detailed information. Positions will start May 11, 2026 and end early/mid-August.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance work in residence halls, apartments, and suites which includes but is not limited to:
- Lifting/Moving Furniture
- Drywall repair
- Ceiling tile replacement
- Power Washing
- Assist Maintenance Technicians with various remodeling and repair projects
- Communicate the status of jobs that are assigned daily as to the completeness of the task
- Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high level of customer service
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and/or the Lead Maintenance Technician
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in one or more trades. Ability to work closely with others in a team environment. Maintenance or facilities experience is beneficial however not required.
Required Certifications or Licensure:
Must have a current/valid driver's license.
Work Hours: 7:00AM - 4:30 PM Mon-Thur; 7 am - 11 am Fri
Work Days: Monday - Friday
Hours Per Week: at least 20 hours per week
Anticipated Hiring Range: $15 / hour. A 4-day lunch pass is available for employees who work more than 30 hours.
