About This Opportunity
The University of Queensland is seeking a Manager, Finance Partnering to provide high-quality financial analysis, advice, and reporting to senior leaders, enabling informed decision-making and strong financial performance across client business units. Working within a collaborative and client-focused team, this role partners closely with executive leaders to drive effective financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, while embedding strong governance, compliance, and risk management practices.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development, alignment, and execution of financial strategies, budgets, and reporting to support client business unit objectives.
- Providing proactive financial analysis, advice, and performance commentary to executive leaders, ensuring accountability and transparency in financial management.
- Partnering with client leaders on the management of budgets, grants, contracts, and financial controls to deliver on service delivery and research objectives.
- Supporting the Finance Manager with business cases, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement projects to enhance financial capability and outcomes.
About You
You will be an accomplished finance professional with postgraduate qualifications and professional membership (CPA/CA or equivalent), bringing significant experience in financial management, analysis, and advisory services. With a proven ability to deliver strategic, client-focused financial solutions in complex environments, you will act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, combining technical expertise with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
You will also bring:
- Postgraduate qualifications in accounting, business, commerce, or a related field (or equivalent extensive professional experience), with progress towards or attainment of CPA/CA membership.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial management, accounting, and analysis, with a strong understanding of compliance, policy, and risk frameworks.
- Significant experience delivering project-based accounting services and financial advice in complex stakeholder and policy environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to influence and achieve outcomes through clear, strategic communication.
- Proven capacity to partner with clients to provide operational and strategically aligned financial advice and solutions.
- A collaborative, client-focused approach with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships across all levels of the organisation.
