About the opportunity

We are seeking a highly attentive and solutions-focused Financial Analyst to support the university’s Financial Services. In this role, you will provide financial performance analysis, decision support, services and solutions for effective and efficient financial administration and management.

Your key responsibilities will be to, but not limited to:

  • work closely with finance teams and key stakeholders to ensure proposed financial solutions meet business requirements
  • provide analysis, advanced financial modelling, problem solving and strategics insights in relation to a diversified range of financial matters and resources within the portfolio
  • contribute to the development of annual client plans that identify the current key issues and needs for the client portfolio
  • support the preparation of cluster wide consolidation, reporting, analysis and presentation of meaningful management reports of Actuals, Plans, Budgets and Forecasts with associated commentaries
  • identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at achieving process efficiencies and adding value to the client experience.
  • prepare and present data visualization using PowerBI.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Management/relevant field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required
  • part qualified or membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or equivalent
  • prior technical experience and background in financial management, financial modelling, budgeting, analysis, reporting and process improvement
  • capability in providing strategically aligned financial insights, sound financial management, decision support, problem solving, advice, analysis, and support
  • highly developed accounting, financial planning and analysis skills including the ability to interpret, integrate and analyse financial data
  • proven ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in resolving complex issues as well as strong use of discretion in escalating issues where required
  • strong business partnering skills and the ability to build trusted working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • proficiency in adapting and utilising Excel spreadsheets for financial reporting and analysis, KPI reporting, ad-hoc analysis, etc
  • proven ability in creating data models and constructing reports through Power BI
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of SmartView would be advantageous
  • outstanding presentation and communication skills to deliver key insights and recommendations to a diversified range of stakeholders and clients
  • flexibility in their organisation and planning skills in order to balance competing agendas and demands in a fast paced, time pressured environment
  • an agile and flexible approach that is able to pivot and contribute to overall team success.
