Job Summary

The Associate Director of Recruiting and Alumni Affairs (MRAA) at FIU's Adam Smith Center for Academic Freedom (ASC) manages all degree program recruiting and alumni affairs. The MRAA serves on the admissions teams for both the bachelor's in business and government leadership (BBGL) and the master's in business and government leadership (MBGL) programs. The MRAA plans, develops, and implements a seamless approach to recruitment, admissions, and enrollment of new undergraduate and graduate students. Works closely with students, faculty, and staff to recruit the highest quality students and provide them with first-class alumni experiences after graduation.

  • Achieves admissions goals and targets through coordinated strategies that will convert high-quality domestic and international prospects to enrolled students. Leads recruiting teams to develop, implement and assess student recruiting strategies for all ASC degree programs. Works closely with the Associate Director, BBGL and MBGL Course Managers, and ASC staff to continually update and verify the accuracy of ASC's webpage and related social media regarding the Center's degree programs.
  • Works closely with marketing and communication staff to develop advertising campaigns to support enrollment strategies. Provides regular online and in-person information sessions for prospective students, and manages ASC's responses to all student inquiries about degree programs. Remains current on academic recruiting best practices.
  • Oversees all alumni affairs engagement for the BBGL and MBGL degree program graduates. Develops and implements innovative and impactful social and networking events for ASC alums and related stakeholders. Organizes events with both alums and recruits as part of the ASC’s overall recruitment strategy.
  • Remains current on alumni affairs best practices. Directs and manages recruitment and alumni affairs staff. Manages the hiring process for direct reports. Participates in advising for both BBGL and MBGL degree students.
  • When requested by the Associate Director, serves on ASC committees to hear satisfactory academic progress and community standards cases. Creates data-informed reports and surveys each year with respect to recruiting strategies and alumni affairs programming/impact/satisfaction. Makes annual data-driven recommendations for recruitment, admissions and alumni affairs strategies.
  • Supports internal and external data reporting as required.
  • Prepares and manages budgets for recruiting and alumni affairs, conducting end-of-year financial analyses and ensuring accuracy in procurement and accounting functions.
  • Serves on the Admissions Committees for all ASC degree programs. Serves on the Scholarships Committee, supporting a structured system for determining scholarship awards prior to matriculation.
  • Serves as a liaison for ASC degree programs, recruiting activities and alumni relations within the university and to external organizations and individuals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with or knowledge of alumni affairs best practices in higher education.
  • Graduate degree in Leadership, Business, Public Affairs, Government, or related field.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience.
