Your opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health is seeking a dynamic and visionary Manager, Technical and Laboratory Services to lead one of the University’s most divers and high-impact operational portfolios. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the strategic direction of clinical skills and laboratory environments spanning three campuses, directly influencing the quality of teaching, research, and student experience within a leading health faculty.
You will lead a committed technical team, champion a strong safety culture, and drive innovation across multidisciplinary spaces. Working with academic leaders, professional teams, and external partners, you will play a central role in modernising facilities, improving systems, and enabling the next generation of health and science education.
You will make an impact by:
- Leading the strategic vision and operational performance of all clinical skills and laboratory environments across the faculty
- Ensuring safe, compliant, and future-ready facilities that support high quality teaching and research
- Driving innovation, modernization, and continuous improvement in laboratory and clinical operations
- Overseeing major projects, resources, and workflows to optimize efficiency and support growth
- Managing budgets, procurement, and equipment lifecycles to ensure sustainable and value driven operations
- Building strong, collaborative relationships with academic, professional, and external stakeholders to support excellence in service delivery

To succeed in this role, you will also need:
- Postgraduate qualifications and extensive leadership experience in laboratory, clinical, or technical operations
- Demonstrated success leading diverse technical teams and cultivating a positive, proactive team culture
- Experience managing large, multi-site laboratory or clinical environments and delivering high-impact initiatives
- Strong commercial acumen, with expertise in budgeting, resource planning, and major equipment procurement
- A passion for innovation, problem solving, and diving operational improvements across complex systems
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence strategic outcomes

Your opportunity is:
- Full-time, continuing (permanent)
- Located at either Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450, Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities
- HEW 9. The base salary ranges from $134,393 - $140,896 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $164,848.
