MAPRO Design Engineer - Biomechanics - Other Hourly Worker

Essential Functions
This hourly worker position is a multidisciplinary engineering role that provides design, development, prototyping, and testing of electronic, robotic, and mechanical devices for use in biomechanics research and projects as part of our Machining and Prototype Core (MAPRO). This position works alongside full-time MAPRO staff and reports directly to the MAPRO Director.
Work Schedule
15 hours per week
Additional Duties
- Designing and implementing devices using CAD software
- Operation and maintenance of both manual and CNC Mills, Lathes, Machine Tools, 3D Printers.
- Program robotic and electrical equipment using Java, C++, and Python.
- Providing input toward the solution of complex problems with Core Facility team members while providing an engineering-focused level of insight and problem-solving.
- Produces highly detailed and accurate drawings for use as supplemental material for publications that utilize in-house designs and devices. This includes assembly drawings, bills of materials, and part illustrations.
- Communicate with University faculty for the development of New Invention Notifications and patents.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D.
