Master of Science in Administration Instructor and Program Director

The College of Education and Human Services at Central Michigan University (CMU) invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term faculty position to provide primary leadership for the Master of Science in Administration (MSA) degree program. This role also includes limited teaching responsibilities within the program. The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal. The MSA program enrolls graduate students both online and on CMU’s main campus in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

The director is responsible for working collaboratively with the College of Education and Human Services Dean’s Office, on-campus academic units, and CMU Innovation and Online to craft a strategic vision for the program and facilitate communication among faculty, staff, and a large pool of adjunct instructors involved with the delivery of the program. The director, in collaboration with the assistant director and support staff, oversees all academic operations of the MSA program, including admissions, curriculum development, interdisciplinary council leadership, collaborations among campus departments, student services including academic advising, and coordination of internships. The director supervises the assistant director and three fixed-term faculty, and will teach up to two courses per academic year, on campus or online, in support of the MSA program. This is an academic year appointment, with any summer work expectation being supplemental. Summer supplemental assignments are expected to be approximately half-time and are contingent upon enrollment and program needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in a field closely related to the MSA degree program; ABD candidates may be considered with the expectation of degree completion within the first year of employment.
  • Experience with off-campus and online program delivery and educational programming for the adult and post-traditional learner.
  • Experience with curriculum development, including collaboration in interdisciplinary programs.
  • Five years of experience in higher education as a faculty member and/or administrator.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability with diverse populations.
  • Strong track record of facilitating collaboration and creativity through teaching and service.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as both a faculty member and a higher education administrator equivalent to a program director and/or department chairperson.
  • Supervision experience of faculty and staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant admission procedures and skills in academic advising at the graduate level.
  • Experience with evaluating graduate level transfer credit, prior learning, and certification to credit opportunities.
  • Successful experience leading strategic planning, evaluation of academic programs, and learning outcomes assessment.
  • Experience developing and implementing interdisciplinary programs.
