MDS Program Administration (25%):
- Collaborate with the faculty Director of the MDS program to support graduate students throughout their progress in the program including: tracking student milestones, progress toward degree completion, outreach, creating surveys to contribute to ongoing assessment and improvement of policies, and preparing ad hoc reports.
- Serve as the administrative liaison for the MDS program faculty, students and staff in the College of Engineering, School of Information, School of Public Health, and College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
- Complete required Rackham forms and processes accurately and on time.
- Coordinate MDS program activities and processes across all participating academic units.
- Collect and organize data for reporting, assessment, and benchmarking analyses as needed.
- Manage and update MDS program digital and print content in collaboration with the Publicity and Events Coordinator.
MDS Student Support (35%):
- Serve as the primary point of contact for MDS students throughout the student life cycle, from matriculation through graduation.
- Collaborate with the Master of Applied Statistics Program Coordinator and Career Services Coordinator to develop and distribute a regularly scheduled student newsletter.
- Hold regular drop-in support sessions to provide advising, resources, and general program support for MDS students.
- Collaborate with the Student Services Manager, the Master of Applied Statistics Program Coordinator, and the Career Services Coordinator to develop and coordinate community-building and student engagement events for all MS students in the Department of Statistics.
MDS Recruiting and Admissions (35%):
- Coordinate all aspects of the MDS recruitment and admissions process.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students and applicants throughout the application process.
- Communicate application and admissions process information to prospective students, applicants, faculty advisors, staff and the admissions committee.
- Manage an application pool of approximately 1,000 applicants including faculty access for admissions committee members, queries for in-progress and completed applications, and admissions decisions.
- Collaborate with the Director of the MDS program to communicate admissions decisions to applicants.
- Maintain an active working relationship with the Rackham admissions liaison.
- Support recruiting initiatives for the MDS program.
MDS Alumni Relations (5%):
- Collaborate with the Career Coordinator to support alumni engagement and maintain information on graduates' professional outcomes.
- Develop surveys, collect data and organize data for reporting and assessment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Four or more years of progressively responsible student services, or related experience.
- Significant experience tracking detailed and confidential information.
- Experience supporting students, faculty, staff, or other stakeholders in an academic, nonprofit, public service, or similarly complex service-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with common office and collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe products, or similar platforms, with the ability and willingness to learn new systems and technologies.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and responsibilities.
- Commitment to providing responsive, respectful, and inclusive service to students, faculty, staff, and other community members.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in an environment that values service, planning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Comfort navigating change, ambiguity, and evolving priorities with flexibility and professionalism.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Five or more years of experience in graduate student administration, student services, academic program coordination, or a related administrative or service-oriented role.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, responsive service, collaboration, thoughtful planning, and continuous improvement.
- Experience using student information systems, financial systems, database tools, or other administrative platforms, with the ability to learn new systems and processes.
- Familiarity with University of Michigan student administration and financial systems, or comparable systems at another institution.
- Knowledge of University of Michigan and Rackham Graduate School policies and procedures, or the ability and interest to learn institutional policies and apply them accurately.
- Experience contributing to process improvements, innovation, or projects that enhance student support, program operations, or team effectiveness.
