Job Description
The Departments of Physics and Mathematics at Syracuse University invite applications to fill multiple faculty positions in the field of quantum information science, broadly defined. Faculty will join the newly established Institute for Quantum and Information Sciences, an interdisciplinary effort which spans multiple departments in the College of Arts and Sciences and in the College of Engineering.
The hiring priority in Mathematics includes all fields of theoretical research related to the mathematics of quantum science, broadly defined. This includes, but is not limited to research in: the mathematics of quantum field theory and gravitation at the intersection with quantum science; the analysis of quantum algorithms, codes and entanglement structures; and associated topics in geometry and algebra. Qualifications
- PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or closely related field.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Areas of interest include all fields of research related to quantum and information science, broadly defined. This includes, but is not limited to, research in superconducting device physics, integrated photonics, quantum sensing and networking, and precision science.
Responsibilities
- Lead an outstanding independent research program
- Teach and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate level
- Participate in departmental and university communities.
Pay Range
$85,000 - $105,000
Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.
