Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Mathematics is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach a wide range of Mathematics courses offered, including Calculus. This includes preparing and presenting lectures, leading and facilitating classroom discussions, and evaluating and grading student performance while maintaining a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in pursuing equitable student outcomes. They will also be responsible for advising students on academic matters, such as course selection and career paths. This is a tenure-track position to be filled ideally for the Fall 2025 semester, alternatively the Spring 2026 semester.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to the broader academic community. This may include serving on college committees, supporting grant related activities, and participating in community outreach. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a deep understanding of Mathematics, and the ability to inspire and engage students. The position will report to the Division Dean and will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Math Programs at the College.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Teaching the equivalent of 5 sections (15 credit hours) each semester to include sections of Developmental Mathematics.
  2. Serving as Academic Advisor.
  3. Holding a minimum of four (4) office hours each week.
  4. Serving on Department and College committees.
  5. Participating actively in the Department's evaluation, development, and implementation of curriculum.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in mathematics OR bachelor's degree in mathematics with a master's degree in statistics, data science, mathematics education, or a mathematics-related field such as physics, engineering, or computer science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
  3. Ability to meet the challenges of a student body with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds.
  4. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ph.D. in Mathematics.
  2. Experience teaching Mathematics at the college level.
  3. Experience teaching online courses and developing and using multimedia.
  4. Experience in curriculum and program development and outcomes assessment.

Additional Information

COMPENSATION: Full-time, tenure-track, MCCC position with an anticipated Annual Salary Range of $57,013-$71,854. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, determined by a formula-based classification system, consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
