Mechanical Engineering Faculty Positions Announcement: 2026-2027
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME), University of Michigan (U-M), Ann Arbor, seeks outstanding scholars to apply for one senior tenure track position (associate or full professor). This position is part of a larger cluster hire that includes the Mechanical Engineering Department, the Computer Science and Engineering Department, and the Ross School of Business; the goal of the cluster is to position Michigan as a national leader in cognitive manufacturing, which is the intersection of next generation artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and supply chain resilience. We expect the faculty member to work closely with faculty in other units to advance next-generation resilient manufacturing systems, including resilient supply chains. All who have strong backgrounds in disciplines relevant to mechanical engineering and the manufacturing sciences are welcome to apply. We are especially interested in individuals who are committed to developing collaborative research programs and engaging in undergraduate and graduate teaching as well as eliminating systemic racism and sexism in STEM fields.
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a related field. We seek strong scholars who will provide inspiration, leadership, and impact in research, teaching, and service and contribute to the goals of the University and Department.
