- Employment Type: Full - time (35 hours a week)
- Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30th June 2027 with possible extension dependent on funding
- Remuneration: $127,351 base, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
- Work rights required: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.

The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health (the Centre) is a major initiative supported by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care which commenced in 2023.
Details of the role
The Media and Communications Manager is responsible for leading the Centre’s Communications and Engagement teams. This role leads the Centre’s communications and engagement strategy to ensure it meets the Centre’s objectives, while building strong meaningful relationships with the Consortium and Centre partner and collaborator organisations nationally. This influential leadership role will drive the Centre's public profile, media engagement and stakeholder relationships, helping shape national conversations about improving health outcomes for people with intellectual disability.
This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and has up to 3 direct reports.
Some key skills required:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies, ideally within a healthcare or disability context
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse groups internally and externally.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and tailor messages to different audiences.
- Experience in working with people with disability, and a strong commitment to focusing on promoting inclusion, the rights of these individuals and ensuring accessibility.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate communication and engagement activities effectively.
- Leads the Centre’s media strategy and relationships, including liaison, pitching and coordination.
