Medical Assistant - Clinical Diagnostic

Applications to this posting will be considered for openings in the following areas:
- Cardiovascular
- Cancer
- Pulmonary
- Allergy
- Ophthalmology
- And other diagnostic-based outpatient services
- Assist with and may perform specialty-specific diagnostic tests such as: electrocardiograms, Fine Needle Aspirations, Fibro Scans, basic Spirometry, Skin Tests, Diagnostic monitoring,
- Holter Monitor assistance, vision related testing including visual fields, contact lens trainings, intra ocular injection preps, scanning of the retina.
- Assist with IV starts.
- Set up Sterile Fields.
- Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed
- May complete general administrative duties as assigned including; Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Disability and Return to Work forms, Electronic Medical Record in-basket messages, etc.
- Complete other clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
Associate Level:
- 1-3 years of experience
Assistant Level:
- 0-1 years of experience
- Some office experience
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA).
- Experience working within a large complex health care setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records system.
- Experience working in a surgical or procedural outpatient or inpatient setting.
Full Time hours, 40 hours per week, weekday schedule will vary depending on location/clinic. May be occasional weekends.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
