The University of Michigan Museum of Natural History, is seeking a part-time Membership Manager (25 hours per week) for a two year term limited position.
The Membership Manager is responsible for overseeing the entirety of the UMMNH Membership program, including the cultivation, stewardship and growth strategies of the portfolio of museum members. This portfolio of work includes; strategy development, reporting and analysis, and logistics management for membership efforts, and overall data management. The membership manager ensures accurate and timely fulfillment of gift processing, acknowledgements, and member requests. This position will develop strategies to successfully position the organization in front of member prospects, companies and corporations and plays a key role in reaching the unit fundraising goals and increasing membership and corporate commitments. 25 hours per week.
Membership Program Management
- Provide managerial oversight and implementation of the museum's membership program
- Implements best strategies in stewardship, renewal and upgrading of current members; acquiring new members and visitor conversion; increasing annual fund gifts from members.
- Evaluates effectiveness of current membership program services, benefits, and policies, relating to retention and acquisition of members on a regular basis
- Recommends, designs, and implements changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
Membership Stewardship and Cultivation
- Serves as primary representative of the membership program on a daily basis, and at all membership events, including opening, programs and members-only events.
- Leads membership cultivation by building relationships with individuals and organizing events and partnerships.
Membership Event Planning and Implementation
- Establish overall strategy and the annual calendar of membership events and programs.
- Coordinate events connected to membership benefits including birthday parties and corporate membership events.
- Plan and implement membership events collaborating with Associate Director of Operations
- Assist colleagues with other development events and activities as needed.
Member Communications, Operations and Logistics
- Develops and directs strategies driving integrated mail, campaigns to acquire, upgrade, and renew members and donors.
- Maintain a schedule of solicitations and cultivations, including delivery of strategic, creative, and data files.
Reporting and Data Analysis
- Generates reports to measure results of membership campaigns, and overall membership retention and growth.
- Monitors progress towards revenue goal and provides reports for senior management.
Data Management
- Develops, promotes, and documents best practices and policies associated with member, donor, and prospect management.
- Maintains security, accuracy, and integrity of the database.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Assistant Director for Development to meet department objectives.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications to create collateral material, to support the museum's online presence for members via social media, and to update membership sections of the museum website.
- Collaborates with Assistant Director for Development to identify and upgrade members to higher levels of annual giving.
- Work with the Assistant Director for Development and finance to prepare and monitor membership revenue and expense budgets.
- Provide training and resources for Visitor Services
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Membership development/fundraising experience
- Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in development database systems
- Creativity, strategic planning skills, and entrepreneurial spirit
Evening and weekends required.
The pay rate for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 full time. This is a part-time, non-exempt, 25 hour/week position. This position is a two-year term limited position.
